2019 brought us a lot of good news about renewable energy. The Business Council for Sustainable Energy just released their 2020 Sustainable Energy in America Factbook. Here are some of the advances:

  • 2019 marked the second-biggest year yet for growth in renewable energy capacity. The U.S. added 20GW of renewable energy, led by wind and solar.
  • For the first time, renewables generated more energy than coal. This happened in April 2019.
  • Total renewable electricity generation rose to 760TWh, which accounts for 18 percent of all generation in 2019, up from 10 percent in 2010.
  • The capacity for wind and solar generation more than quintupled between 2010 and 2019, rising from 36GW to 183GW.

Much of this growth is being fueled by a drop in pricing due technological advances and economies of scale. What will the future hold? If you’d like to find out how renewable energy can benefit your family, give OGW Energy Resources a call for a customized plan.
